Support / FAQ

I purchased a file, do I downloaded it or will it be sent to me?
Files are downloadable from the User's Area on this site. Log in with the information you used to create your Digimmersion account and if your purchase transaction through Paypal was completed you will see hyperlinks for downloading your purchased files (the log in username/password form is at the top of every Digimmersion page - if you do not see a login form you are already logged in.)

I purchased a file and downloaded it, now what do I do?
Open the downloaded ZIP file with your favorite ZIP program and extract the contents. Place the extracted VSS file in your Visio \Solutions directory. The \Solutions directory is usually located somewhere beneath your Visio install directory. You can create your own custom directory to place it in (for instance, Solutions\Adobe.) Now start Visio, it should read the solutions directories and add your stencil to it's list of resources. From within Visio you can use the stencil selection button to open a tree of available stencils. Browse to your new directory and select your new stencil.

What versions of Visio work with your stencils?
I created them in Visio 2003 and they've been successfully used in that and all later versions, however, I can't guarantee they'll work on anything older than Visio 2003. Please download the Try Before You Buy version and test it on your install of Visio before making your purchase. The TBYB links are at the bottom of each product page underneath the Buy It Now links.

Are there any instructions or a tutorial for the new Flex 2.0 stencil?
I've created a short PDF based tutorial (with screenshots) that discusses some of the right-click functionality and advanced fetures within the stencil master objects. It doesn't cover every object (some are very simple and quite obvious) just the ones that require a little explanation.
Download the tutorial.

Can the Flex 2.0 stencil help me design for Cairngorm?
Most definitely! I've created a PDF that walks a developer through the basics of designing a Cairngorm application, showing how the pieces fit, and how application mockups can help you code smarter and plan ahead.
Download the tutorial.

I couldn't figure out how to specifiy the image/video/content in IMAGE and LOADER. Right click did not seem to have any properties I can set. Please instruct on how to specify content location.
The stencils are simple visual mockup tools, they do not posess the same functionality as the Flex components. The loader and image stencil masters are placeholders to show where an image will be placed, but do not allow you to actually load a specific image. If you require that a specific image be displayed in your mockup instead of a generic placeholder you can simply import your image into Visio instead of using the image or loader stencil master.

Do you have any plans to port your stencils over to other diagramming packages, such as Omnigraffle for Mac OS X?
Unfortunately I don't have any plans to build an Omnigraffle version. I'll keep the Visio stencil updated as the Betas and final version of Flex come out, and I may possibly build another stencil containing the components available in Flash MX (for those who build UIs for Flash) if enough people ask for it, but there are simply too many other diagramming packages out there that I don't have access to. It's a shame that you won't be able to use this Visio stencil though, I've had hundreds of downloads and nothing but good feedback... and Flex 2 isn't even out of beta yet!
